A Random Blood Sugar (RBS) test is a blood test that measures the amount of sugar/ glucose present in the blood at any random time. Glucose, a type of sugar derived from the food you consume, is the body’s primary energy source. It is transported through the bloodstream to your cells, where it is utilised for energy production, with the help of the hormone insulin.

Abnormal glucose levels—whether too high (hyperglycaemia) or too low (hypoglycaemia)—can be a sign of health issues. The RBS test helps diagnose health conditions that affect blood glucose levels such as diabetes and prediabetes.
